まず初めは、中間選挙前の現在の共和党、民主党の状勢について書きます。１６日の日本経済新聞１３面の記事を参考にさせてもらいます。共和党内の予備選挙においては、 トランプが推薦した候補、「親トランプ候補」が圧勝したそうです。日本経済新聞（以下、日経と書く）が、米選挙分析サイト「バロットペディア」の１４日までのデータを使って集計したところ、上院では、改選議席数３５のところ２５、下院では、改選議席数４３５のところ、２２６の選挙区で、トランプの指名を受けた候補が勝ったというのです。また、中間選挙で、改選となる知事選３６州で、２０人が、トランプの推薦を受けた候補だったというのです。トランプが推した候補が、他の候補に勝利した確率は、上院１００％、下院９８％、知事選８０％だったというのです。トランプが、どの候補も指名しなかった選挙区もあったため、共和党全体にとっては、「親トランプ候補」の割合は、５３％になったというのです。
トランプ政権は、現在、イランとの軍事衝突、物価高などのために、支持率が低下しています。ですから、「親トランプ候補」を並べることは、勿論、共和党内でも、疑問はあるのでしょうが、しかし、「トランプに従うしかない」という状況なのでしょう。
一方、民主党の方はどうかと言うと、日経では、「民主社会主義者」や「進歩派」と呼ばれる急進左派候補が、党の予備選を勝ち抜く事例が目立つとされています。さらに、日経は、「格差や物価高に伴う生活苦を背景に、急進左派の勢いが増している」と書いています。私としては、「そうですか」と受け入れるしかないのですが、民主の中道寄りの主流派と、急進左派の対立の激しさは、どの程度のものなのか、はっきりとは分からないので、何とも言えません。ただ、あくまでも、米国内の「急進左派」であり、それほど「社会主義思想による政治行動」でもないでしょうから、私は、「少し目立つだけの急進左派であろう」と考えています。実際、トランプにいいように動かれている民主党にすれば、トランプへの激しい反発が起こるのも当然であり、「民主党が左寄り過ぎる」と多くの米国民から反発されることはないだろうと考えます。民主党内の問題より、共和党の問題（勿論、トランプによる）が大きすぎ、中間選挙は、民主党に有利になるであろうと思います。
最後まで、日経に頼りきりになりますが、米選挙情勢調査・分析「クック・ポリティカル・リポート」の最新調査では、以下のようになっています。
上院（定数１００） 共和党 ４７ 民主党 ４７ 接戦 ６ （ただし改選議席は、３５）
下院（定数４３５） 共和党２０８ 民主党２０６ 接戦２１ （全議席 改選）
次は、日本の沖縄県、辺野古において、米軍基地を造るため、海の埋め立て工事が行われています。この工事については、埋め立て予定の周辺の海には、たくさんの海洋生物が生息しており、それらの生物を滅ぼすことになるとして、また埋め立て予定地の海底が、軟弱地盤であり、埋め立てが困難であるとして、沖縄の全体、地元からも、多くの反対が叫ばれていました。しかし、日本政府は、まさに力づくで、反対運動をつぶそうとして、埋め立て作業を強行してきました。
私は、これから書く米国からの「声」については、ずいぶん前から、気にしていましたが、日本政府は、気にしてもいなかったのでしょうか。そんなはずはないと思いますが、とにかく、こんな大問題の対策が取られていないことについては、政府の対応力にあきれるばかりです。私は、ヤフー上で、最近、２０２６年２月１８日付の朝日新聞の記事を目にしました。勿論、埋め立て問題に関連して、記事を探す中で、記事に気づいたのです。
日本政府は、米軍普天間飛行場を、日本に返還してもらうよう、辺野古に基地移転の工事を進めているわけですが、米国の国防総省は、辺野古の基地では、約１８００ｍの滑走路が、２本造られることになっているが、１８００ｍ２本では、普天間基地は、返還できないよと言っているのです。普天間にある滑走路は、約２７００ｍあるが、辺野古のものは、１８００ｍで、役に立たないというのです。米国の国防総省が語っているのです。日本政府は、「聞かない」ことにはできません。米側は、責任は、日本政府にあり、とにかく１８００ｍの滑走路では、普天間基地は、返還できないというのです。
これに対して、日本の木原官房長官は、２０２６年の２月１６日だと思いますが、「現在、防衛省が、米国の発表について確認中」としています。長官は、「辺野古への移設完了後、普天間基地が返還されないという状況は、全く想定していない」と語っていますが、想定していないでは、絶対に済まない問題です。高市首相が、すぐにでも、対応すべき問題です。だいたい、こんな大問題がありながら、米側と話し合わないで、辺野古の埋め立て工事を進めるとは、どうかしています。国の「程度が知れる」ことになります。テレビ朝日では、元同社、社員であった玉川氏が、「辺野古基地ができても、普天間基地がも返還されないかも知れない」と語ったそうですが、日本政府も、黙っていないで、何か語るべきです。
最後は、 ２０１１年３月１１日の「東日本大震災」によって、破壊された福島第１原発について、内部の調査とデブリ（溶融燃料）の採取が始まるというニュースについてです。やはり、１６日の日経、５面の記事を参考にさせてもらいます。東京電力では、これまでは、内部調査、デブリの採取のために、釣りざお式の装置で臨んでいたようですが、なかなかうまくは行かなかったようです。採取したデブリも、何グラムかに過ぎなかったようです。釣りざお式の装置では、作業が進まないと考え、「ロボット・アーム」を考え出したのでしょう。
ただ、デブリは、１～３号機内に約８８０トン、残っているとされます。１０トントラックで考えれば、８８台分あることになります。今後、次々と取り出せるようになったとしても、次は、保管場所も必要になるはずです。ただし、そこまで進むかどうかも、大きな疑問があると思います。
東電は、ひとつの株式会社ですが、原子力発電という国策に従って事業を展開してきたわけですから、国が、責任を持って、廃炉等の作業を進めて行くべきだと、私は思います。勿論、今回のロボットアームについても、経済産業省が補助金を出しているようですが、国の方も、今後の廃炉に向けて、しっかりと主導していくべきだと思います。
