トランプは、自分から仕掛けた戦闘をやめさせてもらうために、停戦、終戦をイランにお願いするしかなくなったのです。いっぽう、イランにしても、武力では、圧倒的に差のある米国と戦いたくはありません。停戦、終戦は、受け入れるはずです。ただ、イランとしては、一方的に戦争を仕掛けてきた米国からは、できるだけの代償を求めることを狙います。当然のことです。ここでは、触れないことにしますが、１８日時点では、米国とイランとの戦闘終結のための「覚書」の草案が、明らかにされています。両国民のために、１９日の署名式、その後の交渉が、終戦にと繋がるよう、願いたいと思います。（イスラエルの関わりについては、ほとんど触れないことにしました。）

与党である自民、維新は、衆議院議員の定数を１割減らすという方針を決定しました。そして、与野党の選挙制度協議会で、決めようと考えているのですが、協議会において、１年以内に結論が出なければ、自動的に、比例区の議員数が、４５減ることになるという法案を提出しようとしているのです。これは、２５年の年末に提出された議員削減案に似ていますが、その廃案になった法案では、小選挙区で２５、比例区で２０を減らすというもので、やはり協議で決まらなかった場合、自動的に４５削減となるとなっていました。読売新聞の社説では、期限内で決まらなかった場合に、結論をあらかじめ決めておくという法案は、「協議会の議論を蔑ろにするものだ」と書かれています。こういう発想は、維新から出ているのかと、私は思っていますが、まさに他党の議員を、そして国民をないがしろにするもの、愚弄するものだと言わなければなりません。
私は、定数削減を主張する維新の「姿勢」について、書いてみたいと思います。大阪府を、まさに「拠点」のようにしている維新は、大阪市議会、大阪府議会において、議員の定数を削減することに努めてきました。そして、両議会において、多数を占めていたために、両方とも、削減に成功したのです。「身を切る改革」などと言ってきましたが、両議会において、維新の議員の占有率が高まっただけで、身を切られたのは、他党の議員です。そして、大阪では、投票者を府民にと広げ、都構想、または、副首都構想等の選挙（次で３度め）を行おうとしています。
国政では、自民と組んで、与党となっているので、今度は、国政において、「身を切る改革」を行おうというわけです。朝日新聞の社説では、「本当に身を切りたいのなら」、団体献金や政党交付金について考えよと書かれていますが、私は、「身を切る」などということが、すでに「嘘」になっていると言っておきます。日本の戦国時代等において、まさに身を切る（切腹）ことになった領主や武士の悲運を考えてもみない、浅はかな「口上」だと思います。
維新は、今や、与党と言っても、多数の中の少数に過ぎませんが、自民の党首である高市首相には、自民党内には、「派閥」どころか、信頼できる仲間も、ほとんどいません。孤立の党首です。首相にとっては、今や、維新の国会議員は、参議院も含めて、まさに「同志」とも言うべき存在です。右翼的という政治姿勢も似ています。せいぜい、首相にくっついていくことです。高市は、誹謗・中傷問題では、図々しく振る舞い、辞任することはないかも知れませんが、２７年の自民党の総裁選では、もう選ばれることは、絶対にないでしょう。維新も、ひょっとすると、その際に、与党から、追い出されるかも知れません。

私のことで言えば、私は、中学校から現在まで、英語は、ずっと学んできました。好きでしたし、得意でもあったので。英米の小説は、多少は、辞書に頼りますが、様々なものを読んできました。海外旅行などでも、多くの外国の人々との会話を行ってきました。でも、会話は、日常の問題なら、話せるという程度です。また、書物でも、専門書となると、読むのは、困難になります。もう４０年近くになるくらい、文通を続けているオランダの家族がいます。二人の姉妹は、医学系の研究者です。二人とも、私に、著書（英語）を送ってくれましたが、私は、「申しわけないけど、専門用語が多すぎて、よく読めない」と知らせたくらいです。
